"Mrs. Anderson was a native of Pottsville, Pa., moved to New Orleans in 1844 and was married to a Mr. Yung the following year. In 1846 she lost her husband and in 1851 she married Capt. John Anderson. In 1853 the family came to Corpus Christi. Mrs. Anderson was a member of the Methodist church from which house funeral took place Thursday evening. She leaves a sorrow-stricken husband and seven children - five sons and two daughters, Mr. Yung, the city clerk, being the eldest - to mourn her death."

Death Anderson William 5 Oct 1884 12 Oct 1884, p 5 5m 29d In CC. Parents: William and Mollie Anderson. "The rangers brought in Francisco Peralto, charged with killing Jose Arellano. The prisoner confessed to the killing, but claimed that the other party, without provocation, hit him on the head with a quirt. He fell and as he rose he started to strike him again, when he pulled a knife out of his boot and struck him. The knife went to the handle in Arellano's heart. he walked a few steps and fell dead. No witnesses to the transaction. Prisoner was sent to the county jail to await action of the grand jury."

Death Arispe Fidel 21 Jun 1893 30 Jun 1893, p 7 News item from San Diego, Texas, June 23: "Reports from the country state that Mr. Fidel Arispe, late of Webb county, shot and killed himself on the 21st. The shooting took place at the La Jarita ranch. The reason of his taking this way of causing a funeral is not known, but unrequited love is the supposition."

Death Arnell T. J. 20 Jan 1899, p 3 News item from Refugio. T. J. Arnell was shot and killed by his stepson, Eric Perry, age 17. Shot with a 32-calibre Winchester. The article explains how Arnell first came at Perry with the rifle aimed at Perry. Perry turned it around towards Arnell during the struggle and the gun went off, "causing almost instant death."

Ulmer, who owns half interest in the large lumber business of Cameron and Ulmer, discovered a thief carrying off lumber from his yard, and hailing him twice fired at him four times with a pistol with the effect of killing a Mexican by the name of Ramon Avilla. Mr. Ulmer had his examining trial today and was released on a nominal bond of $100."

Death Bailey John 10 Mar 1899, p 3 News item from Childress, Texas, dated March 9: "John Bailey and Tom Palmer, well connected young men, met in a saloon and after a few words drew their pistols and began firing, continuing until both fell mortally wounded. Bailey was shot twice in the body and his hand was shattered. Palmer got two bullets in his body. The fathers of the two men were sent for and arrived before the end, which came to the duelists at the same moment. As they fired, the two men walked toward each other, neither seeming to care for himself so long as he inflicted mortal wounds. Land litigation was the cause."
